Today is New Years Eve 2010. This year sure has been crazy. We bought a house in May, moved the beginning of June. We went home to visit Michigan for three weeks this summer, then came back and started another school year of teaching. On September 9th we found out we were going to have a baby! We wanted to tell our families in person, so we waited to tell anyone.

On October 22nd, Justin's parents came to visit for the weekend. About an hour after they arrived we gave them a gift. It was a frame that said, "Grandchildren" and we had a picture of the first ultrasound in it. They saw it and screamed and cried and we all hugged. It was a fun weekend.

The next weekend, October 29th, we flew home to tell everyone else. We did not tell my parents we were coming. Only my sister and brother (and a few others) knew we were coming home. We flew home, rented a car, drove to my parents, and snuck in. The dog didn't even hear us. We walked up to the living room and my dad was just sitting down. He was so confused when he saw us he didn't even respond. For a second I thought, "Oh crap, did I just give my dad a heart attack?" He was fine though. My brother and sister eventually got there, and then my mom finally got home. She was also very surprised to see us just sitting at the dining room table. We ate and then gave them the gift of the frame with the ultrasound picture in it. My mom just stared at it. My dad turned it for the rest of the table to see. I had to ask if they understood it, because they weren't really responding. My mom said she got it, then she made me stand up to see my stomach. The rest of the weekend was filled with telling grandparnets and calling as many people we could to tell them. At this point I was 11 weeks pregnant.

Now, it is the last day of the year. Tomorrow I will be exactly 20 weeks pregnant. Half way done. The time has flown by. We have been so busy. I finished my Master's Degree, and my diploma just came in the mail. Justin started his Master's program and has just finished his first class. When we went home to Michigan for Christmas we had our baby shower. We got so many great things, and somehow fit them all in the car to get back to South Carolina. Justin will still have classes, but now I will have more time to focus on getting everything ready for the arrival of this baby. Next week we should be able to find out if baby is a boy or a girl. We will definitlely let you all know. Please take the quiz on here before next Wednesday, so you can get your guess in before we know!

Okay, that was a lot for the first blog, but I had to tell you the background (and give my excuses for not starting this earlier:). Here is the update on baby's progression:

Week 20 of Pregnancy:

If you're having a girl, her uterus is now fully formed and her ovaries are holding about seven million primitive eggs. If you're having a boy, his testicles have begun their descent from the abdomen to their ultimate destination. And while your baby is definitely getting bigger (weighing in at about ten ounces and measuring 6 1/2 inches, from head to rump), there's still plenty of growing room in there, which allows him or her to twist and turn (and allows you to feel his acrobatics).

I have been feeling the baby rolling, and a few harder kicks or maybe punches, here and there. I feel much better then the first trimester. I was never sick, but very picky at eating. I did think if I ate certain things I would have been sick, but I got through it. My energy is back, and within the last 2 weeks the baby has exploded. People can now see that I'm pregnant instead of just fat! :)
